What: 1911 strike pint mug

Why: Industrial relations on the railway, as with most industries, is a deep and fascinating subject. The 1911 strike was the first national withdrawal of labour on the railways and the government of the day were forced into drastic action, sending troops to try and ensure the railways were kept running ... as illustrated below. The strike only lasted two days, but it achieved its aim and the positive impact on the terms and conditions of railway workers was significant.
